Unlocking Bright Futures for Your Senior: Florida's Premier Scholarship Program for 2023 Now Open

As your child's high school graduation approaches, you may be worried about the rising costs of college tuition. But fear not! There's a fantastic opportunity that can help you and your child achieve their academic dreams without breaking the bank. It's the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship, and the application for the Class of 2023 is now available online. Don't miss out on this chance to secure financial aid for your child's college education!

What is the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship?

The Florida Bright Futures Scholarship is a prestigious program that rewards high school graduates in Florida for their academic achievement and community service, regardless of financial need. It offers three different levels of awards: Florida Academic Scholars (FAS), Florida Medallion Scholars (FMS), and Private Awards for students attending private colleges in Florida. The FAS award covers up to 100% of tuition and applicable fees at a public Florida college or university, while the FMS award covers up to 75% of tuition and applicable fees at a public Florida school. Even students attending private colleges in Florida can receive a comparable amount of funding.

Why Should You Apply?

The benefits of applying for the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship are numerous. First, it's free to apply, and it takes less than five minutes to complete the online application. Even if your child is not planning to attend a Florida college, applying for the scholarship is still worth it. If your child changes their mind and decides to transfer to a Florida college later on, the scholarship money will be available to them. Plus, there are no downsides to applying, as it does not affect other financial aid or scholarship opportunities.

Time is of the Essence!

It's crucial to act now and submit the application as soon as possible. The deadline for submitting the application is August 31, 2023, but why wait until the last minute? The sooner you apply, the better. Don't risk missing out on this incredible opportunity for your child's future.

How to Apply?

Applying for the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship is easy. Simply go to the Office of Student Financial Assistance Scholarships & Grants website and click on the "Create a Student Account" link under the "First-Time Applicants" section. Fill out the required demographic information, including your child's social security number, date of birth, graduation date, and contact information. Then submit the application, and you will be automatically directed to the Florida Financial Aid Application (FFAA). Be sure to double-check all the information to ensure accuracy, and submit the application between January 1 and the August 31, 2023 deadline.

Special Notes for AICE and IB Students

If your child is pursuing an AICE or IB Diploma, they may also be eligible for the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship. The good news is that AICE and IB students do not have to earn a minimum score on the SAT or ACT to qualify. However, the AICE and IB Diplomas must be earned prior to high school graduation. You can find complete information on the required AICE and IB curriculum in the Bright Futures Student Handbook Chapter 1.
