If you are a high school student in Florida there is a big chance you have probably heard of the Bright Futures Scholarship, offered to any Florida resident. This scholarship offers up to 100% of your tuition paid which would definitely give you more flexibility when looking at schools you’d like to attend after graduation.
There are two different requirements in order to be qualified for Florida’s Bright Futures:
First, there is the Florida Academic Scholars, which offers your full-tuition covered. In order to qualify for this, you must have a weighted GPA of 3.5, SAT score of 1330 or an ACT score of 29, and an additional 100 hours of community service. When applying for this scholarship you have to keep in mind that it is super competitive, meaning you should work on your application, and submit, as soon as possible.
The second opportunity offered is the Florida Medallion scholarship. This is offered to students with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or above and a minimum SAT score of 1210 or an ACT score of 25 and an additional 75 hours of community service. For this specific scholarship, the applicant will receive 75% of their college tuition and fees covered. As said for the Florida Academic Scholars both of these scholarships are highly competitive meaning you must submit your application as soon as possible.
In order to apply, you must fill out your FFAA first!! Without doing so you will not be eligible to apply for this scholarship. To fill out your FFAA, you must go to www.FloridaStudentFinancialAid.org.
The closing date for the Bright Futures scholarship for 2021-2022 is August 31st.
