Why HKIS Is One of Hong Kong’s Top International Schools
Hong Kong International School is a prestigious co-ed AP curriculum day school serving Reception through Grade 12 on two campuses in Repulse Bay and Tai Tam, with over 2,800 students from 40+ nationalities and accreditation by WASC/EARCOS. It regularly ranks among Asia’s top international schools.
Admission Timeline & How to Apply
1. Submit Application & Pay Fee (Year-round; priority deadlines)
Admissions accepted all year, with priority deadlines for best-fit consideration: Oct 31 for Reception–Grade 2, and Feb 1 for Grades 3–12. Applications after deadlines are considered if space is available.
Application fee is approximately HK$2,000 (USD ~$265).
2. Eligibility & Documentation
Applicants must provide proof of Hong Kong residency or valid dependent visa, HKID or passport.
Health insurance coverage is mandatory.
3. Priority Consideration & Wait Pool
HKIS uses a wait pool, not waitlist: priority applications receive testing/interview invitations first.
When spaces open, the candidate best matched to school culture and readiness is offered admission.
4. Assessment & Interview
Students may be invited to age-appropriate assessments or interviews depending on grade level.
For younger grades, assessments may be play-based and focused on English readiness.
5. Decision & Enrollment
Offered admissions are communicated shortly after assessment. Families usually confirm acceptance and submit enrollment documentation soon afterward.
What HKIS Evaluates
Admissions decisions are based on:
School readiness and English proficiency, especially for younger grades
Assessment or interview performance and overall academic background
Community fit, multicultural mindset, and character traits
