STEM for those unaware stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. Why have you heard this term everywhere you turn? That’s due to it being the future of industries and the job market. Take from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, STEM occupations have an 8.8% increase between 2018-2028 while non-STEM occupations will see a 5.0% increase.
Not only will there be more jobs available but the median annual wage for STEM occupations is averaged at $86,160/ year, while non-STEM occupations are averaged at $38,160/ year. As the statistics show not only will there be an increase in opportunity but a significant increase in annual pay for these jobs as well.
